Fulham boss Ranieri lining up reunion with Leicester outcast Slimani to boost survival hopes
CLAUDIO RANIERI is ready to make a move for Islam Slimani to help boost Fulham’s hopes of Premier League survival, according to reports.
Ranieri has been hard at work since his arrival at Craven Cottage assessing what can be done to his squad to give them the best chance of avoiding relegation.
And chief among the areas of concern is the lack of goals in his struggling side with much of the onus placed on Aleksandar Mitrovic to find the net.
Fulham have scored just 16 times in the league this season, with Mitrovic contributing seven of those.
But his double in the 3-2 win over Southampton are the only times he has found the net since September – and Ranieri knows he needs other options when the Serb is not firing.
Slimani found it difficult to dislodge Jamie Vardy as the main striker with the Foxes following his £29million move from Sporting Lisbon.
And he was shipped out on a season-long loan to Fenerbahce last summer as Claude Puel looked to move in a different direction with his side.
That move has failed to ignite the Algerian, who has scored just three goals in 16 appearances for the Turkish side.
But Ranieri is still a huge fan of the 30-year-old who had a brilliant record in Portugal scoring 48 goals in 82 appearances for Sporting.

And he is understood to believe the target man has the qualities to come in at Craven Cottage in January and provide a new dimension to his side.
Leicester would be prepared to sell, with Slimani not figuring in Puel’s long-term plans for his side.
And it is also believed that Fernebahce would be happy to cut short the loan deal with the player failing to settle well in Turkey.
Despite Fulham’s struggles since their promotion, they are still well in touch with the other clubs above them despite sitting bottom of the league on nine points.
Burnley and Crystal Palace are only three points clear of them outside of the relegation zone, and Ranieri is optimistic he can improve his side enough for them to survive.
