TOTTENHAM may not open their new stadium until February after yet another delay – this time due to problems over staging test events around Christmas.

On Sunday they are set to host 6,000 fans – picked through a Willy Wonka-style ballot – for a tour of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but the chances of hosting Manchester United on January 13 look slim.
According to The Times, Tottenham had scheduled test events for the Sundays either side of New Year: December 30 and January 6.
However, Crystal Palace host Chelsea in a London derby at 12pm on December 30.

It means there is likely to be a shortage of staff and police resources and therefore Spurs have reportedly changed their schedule.

The Times say they have seen photographs from the operations room at the new ground – including a seven-week planner – with the January 13 opening date. But these are understood to now be under revision.
If Spurs cannot host Manchester United on that date, the first game held at the new stadium may not be until February.
Spurs are away at Fulham on January and host Watford on January 30.
But the game against the Hornets is a Wednesday night on the eve of the transfer window deadline and would therefore not be an ideal occasion for the pivotal date.
The next home game is the following weekend, against Newcastle before Leicester travel down the M1 a week later as Spurs face three home games back-to-back.
One issue could be if Tottenham get past Tranmere or Southport in the FA Cup Third Round and are then drawn at home for the weekend of January 26 and 27.
The club have so far given updates on the stadium situation up until the Wolves game at Wembley on December 29 but are set to provide fans with the latest news later this week.
