Enzo Calzaghe ‘very poorly’ as family forced to deny reports dad and trainer of world champion Joe had died
JOE Calzaghe’s family has confirmed his dad Enzo is “very poorly” after being forced to deny reports the 69-year-old had died.
Tributes poured in for the Italian-born coach from many big names in the boxing world on Friday night incorrectly stating that he had passed away.
But his niece, Carrie Calzaghe, has released a statement on Facebook confirming he was “alive and still fighting”.
She said: “Enzo Calzaghe my uncle, has not passed away, this is false news, he is alive but very poorly.
“Please allow space for our family at this time. He is alive and still fighting. We will keep you posted and let you know how he is doing when we can.
“Please allow and respect our privacy at this time Thank you. Team Calzaghe. Please share.”
